Experience

10 years in National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM ) as researcher and Professor in Thermodynamics, Heat and Mass Transfer and Energy Studies;supervisor to Master and Doctorate students in various Universities;a large number of publications on: liquefied natural gas, refrigeration, renewable energy sources; has participated in many international working groups, congresses and has delivered many conferences in the topics of energy and agriculture, GHGs, emission reductions, food security and rural development;worked 5 years in the Pharmaceutical Industry;worked 6 years with the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean in Chile;was a member of the Secretariat of the Nairobi Conference on New and Renewable Sources of Energy in New York;since 1986 he works as Energy Co-ordinator for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Rome;co-ordinates FAO’s energy activities and positions and promotes collaboration with the UN system, a variety of Universities, the World Energy Council, IEA, UNESCO, OLADE and other international institutions;is responsible for FAO’s energy programme which is active in both energy policies and technologies mainly for the rural areas of developing countries;he is now also the Secretary of the FAO Interdepartmental Working Group on Climate Change, which is composed of 25 officers from the agriculture, forestry, fisheries, economic, social and legal services of FAO;in this capacity, he oversees technical and policy advice to the organization and its member countries and the position of FAO with regards to UNFCC, IPCC and other Climate Change fora.
