Karl Klug studied process engineering and received his doctorate (Dr.-Ing.) with a thesis about heterogenic catalytic reaction systems at the University of Bochum/Germany. His industrial experiences are resulting of serving many years in the R&D and Engineering departments of Gaswaerme-Institut Essen/Germany, Deutsche Babcock AG Oberhausen/Germany and at Ruhrgas AG Essen/Germany.
In 1995 he became Professor of Thermodynamics at the University of Applied Science Gelsenkirchen. He is one of the founders and Managing Directors of ENKAT GmbH founded 1997 which became in 2002 a division of Hydrogenics Corporation Toronto/Canada. Prof. Klug is responsible for the fuel cell business development of Hydrogenics Corporation in Europe.

Dr. Klug absolvierte das Studium der allgemeinen Verfahrenstechnik an der Universität Bochum, dem sich die Promotion zum Dr.-Ing. mit einer Arbeit zur heterogenen Katalyse anschloss. Seine industriellpraktischen Erfahrungen gründen auf langjährige Tätigkeiten in den F&E- und den Projektabteilungen des Gaswärme-Institutes Essen, der Deutschen Babcock AG Oberhausen und der Ruhrgas AG Essen.
1995 wurde Dr. Klug zum Professor für Thermodynamik an die Fachhochschule Gelsenkirchen berufen. Er ist einer der Gründer und Geschäftsführer der 1997 gegründeten ENKAT GmbH, die seit 2002 zur Hydrogenics Corporation Toronto/Kanada gehört. Dr. Klug ist verantwortlich für die Geschäftsentwicklung Brennstoffzellentechnik der Hydrogenics Corporation in Europa.
