Successful Pilot Projects

In 1996, The Science Park Gelsenkirchen demonstrated that large-scale solar power generation is attractive eve
for metropolitan areas with below-average sunshine hours. With funding from the European Union, the State of
North-Rhine Westphalia and RWE Energie AG, a 210 kW photovoltaic power plant was built.
At that time it was the largest of its type in the world.
