Focus on India

Energy supply in developing countries is facing enormous challenges. More than 1.6 billion people in rural areas are still without access to electricity. On the other hand, in urban areas with rapid economic growth, it becomes more and more difficult to adapt energy generation capacity to the ever soaring demand. Meeting these challenges will require annual investments of 200-300 billion US-$ over the next decades.

Energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies will play an important role in that process. Participating in that global investment programme is both a challenge and a great opportunity for the growing clean energy industry in North and South.

The International Symposium New Energy Markets promotes North-South cooperation on the development and dissemination of clean energy technologies. This year’s country focus is on India, a country with remarkable achievements in clean energy development and deployment but still a huge potential of untapped resources in fields like power plant efficiency and renewable energy use. In all thematic sessions, speakers from India and Germany will provide latest information on available technologies, market development and business opportunities.

To facilitate technology cooperation on a business to business level, two pre-organized brokerage events and a full-day workshop will be part of the conference scheme. Companies are invited to present their technology and service profiles in the exhibition area at reasonable prices. How advanced renewable energy and power plant technology works in practice can be experienced at the site visits after the conference.
